I’m the farthest you can get from being a patriot without entering anarchist territory, but that hasn’t stopped me from cheekily dressing up for July 4th. I recognize most of the flaws in our nation’s framework – systematic discrimination against minorities, preservation of a class system shrouded in myths of social mobility, delusions of the American Dream in an era of a middle class that doesn’t exist and a corporate oligarchy that does. And that’s just a summation of my generation – what about the generations that preceded me? The ones that had to fight for what should be obvious rights, like integrated public facilities or suffrage for women and people of color? There’s no reason for me to feel even remotely proud of my country. And I don’t. Nationalism, ironically, is a foreign concept. But I refuse to move out of America, or to even take off my red, white, and blue duds. Because I am a progressive, and I know that distancing myself from the problem only affords tacit permission to its perpetuation. My reappropriation of America’s own signature stripes asserts that my ideals are more representative of a “land of the free” than the corrupt aims of my government known to validate that very propaganda. No, I will not give up on the reconstruction of this nation’s values. I’ll cross my arms over the ironic flag emblazoned across my chest, put my foot (read: mary jane platform sandal) down, and demand change. America was established to preserve the freedom of choice for everyone, not certain privileged groups of people. Let’s wave our flags high and set an example for what it really means to be a revolutionary. Having the strength to stand up and point out that our nation is grossly inadequate in meeting the needs of its people? That’s independence. But refusing to question authority and believing the myth that every citizen has an equal opportunity to achieve success and stability? Not so much. Happy 4th.

What a honorable post, I couldn't agree with you more!
ReplyDeleteP.s Lookin amazing as always
Oh my god what are you even saying?! Sometimes you use great syntax and vocabulary but in reality, your point could have been conveyed in a MUCH simpler way. America is the land of the free. The melting pot. Anyone can start a business. Unfortunately, not many people are motivated. Americans need to get off their lazy asses but really? Saying we dont have the opportunity is just an ignorant statement. We have shelters. We have free education. We have elections where anyone can run for the House of Representatives. ANYONE. Do you want to move to communist China where they dont let you have the amount of children you want? How about not so diverse France with their socialist ideals? The Netherlands where you have to wait til Queen's day to sell something on the street? Or Saudia Arabia where you wouldnt even have the freedom to drive because youre a woman? Didnt think so. Think before you post and seriously, have SOME pride in your country. This is just unAmerican.
ReplyDeleteLime Crime is a really awful brand, and one that I wouldn't expect someone like you to use.
ReplyDeleteHere's an article from a little over a year ago about why the business sucks: http://www.lipsticksandlightsabers.com/2010/01/lime-crime-beneath-glitter.html
And here's an article about how their ad campaigns perpetuate racist/orientalist stereotypes: http://portraitofmai.blogspot.com/2012/01/lime-crime-youre-doing-it-wrong.html

Stunning outfit- and even more stunning written content. I always love to read your written editorial, and particularly so on posts such as this. A fashion blogger with values and strong opinions who isn't afraid to declare them loudly is a truly wonderful thing. You're extremely inspiring for a fifteen year old like me, and a great role model. xx
ReplyDeleteYou're a really smart girl but...today I feel like you've shrouded dumb ideas in flavorful syntax. Your expectations are unrealistic. You say that our ancestors shouldn't have had to even fight for what are unalienable rights, but you're not giving them enough credit. Cultural circumstances always govern our moral compasses and no matter how idealistic (or existential...) you are you can't seriously believe that any human had the capacity to "see" what was right for morals are always, always relative. You can't fairly hold our standards of morals to those of an era past, and sneer in superiority.
ReplyDeleteBefore you shit all over America, which of course has flaws, find me a place that would be more hospitable to the middle class. And before you say Denmark or something like that, I mean in the realm of countries as large as the United States with a feasible goverment. I don't think even the UK has more opportunity for climbing the socioeconomic hierarchy than the United States does.
This is really cute. :D I love what you did with your lips, looks amazing. :)
ReplyDeleteWell the US may not be perfect but it s still high on my destinations list mainly because of New York.I guess every nation has it s flaws and the only thing you can do is to accept them really.
ReplyDeleteYou could have an intelligent discussion OR you could tweet about the anon cause you have nothing intelligent to say. Nice choice Bebe

wow, great photos! I NEED that kind of flagshorts too!
ReplyDeleteand in the end, only few flags have this ability to dress girls in a wearable way ;)
ReplyDeleteI agree with anon 1, silpa and anon 2. Bebe zeva is an ignorant dummy who should stick to clothing and stop pretending to be an intellectual, just because she's able to write properly lmao. Why would anyone make fun of anon 1, so her little self can feel better? Most of us agree with him.
ReplyDeleteLMAO CAN EVERYBODY PLZ MAKE FUN OF THE IDIOT WHO LEFT THIS COMMENT ON MY BLOG POST?
I'd rather make fun of you, sorry hun.
Yeah sorry but that was pretty pathetic. If I'm gonna make fun of anyone it'd be you Bebe not anonymous. Your argument is so deeply flawed that it could only come from a white middle class chick who seems to think politics are cool this month. You are not a true liberal and your attempts to be ironic come off as moronic. Like someone else said: stick to the clothes and stop acting like the oracle on such issues. I don't hear you mention at all about how America pours money and weaponary into the Israeli army so they can systematically kill Palestinian families then use the weak excuse that they're "defending themselves" and brand anyone who dares to criticise the Holy Land as an anti-semite.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment! I'll discuss systematic oppression of Palestinians and Muslims soon, too. I think you harbor resentment toward me due to offensive statements I have made in the past about about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I do not stand by those same principles and presently identify as an ally to the PLO. :)
DeleteI think you flatter yourself if you think I harbor resentment or any atrong feelings towards you although I do have some respect for your reply. I didn't realise you had said offensive statements about muslims in the past especially as you're such a staunch advocate against prejudice but the fact that you can admit when you've been disrespectful or wrong is something I can admire. It's character-building
Deletei think you flatter yourself by thinking that bebe actually cares what you think. just because she wears cute clothes doesn't mean that she hasn't a right to her opinion. and frankly, fuck off
DeleteI never said she didn't have a right to her opinion...and I don't flatter myself or think Bebe would care but if you see her response I believe she actually did. Now please take your own advice.

"I never noticed how fucking idiotic my fanbase was until I tried to have a conversation with them about why America sucks. You all fucking embarrass me." -Bebe's current Facebook status
ReplyDeleteYou are the very definition of ungrateful. While your opinions are constructed with good intentions, I'm sure, you lack the emotional maturity to convey them in an adult way. And to speak so lowly to the people who SUPPORT you for having a different opinion, well, that speaks for itself. You are ignorant, Bebe. Before you shit on everything you're lucky to have (including your 'freedom'-however you view it, and your fanbase) take a minute to see how your words and behavior reflect on your personality. Deal with people who disagree with your views in a respectful and mature way-that doesn't involve going on twitter and Facebook begging the fans you just shat all over to 'make fun of' anon#1, or having your sister back you up in a method that's just as immature and ignorant as your own. And stop using the fact that the people who disagree with you are your fans to bully and condescend them into being quiet. You've lost my respect. Not that Bebe Zeva, the spoiled ungrateful fashion blogger who's pretty good with words, cares. You are so undeserving of these people who support you. My suggestion is to try living in a country with a truly oppressive government for a year and try blogging about your beliefs there...then tell us who truly has freedom of speech.
Best to you
AMEN! Grow up Bebe.
DeleteAmerica is a really tough country for you to live in right? It's so hard to have a fanbase and wear your fabulous outfits and write about them online? America is the country where youre allowed to exhibit these types of freedoms and AMERICA is the country that has given you the wealth to get these items and the freedom wear them when and where you want. Why dont you go wear your clothes in Afghanistan or Sudan or China or India or some other country where you would probably be a manual laborer and would only own one outfit.
ReplyDeleteOne of the sad things about America is how people here seem to think it's either this or Afghanistan. Nothing in between, no alternatives. I think everyone can agree that today's America is not what the founding fathers had in mind, and to point that out doesn't mean you think that we live in a dictatorship or the worst country in the world. America is great in many ways, but it also has its darker sides, and lots of crazy people who see everything in black and white.
ReplyDeleteAvy, youre an idiot. That is not what this is about at all. It's about some poor little rich girl complaining about the lack of equality in America. There is no lack of equality. Opening a business here is SO much easier than in any other country. Why else would our immigration rate be so high? We have bountiful opportunities. Where is the lack of stability in America huh? Our medical sciences are the best in the world. America is a beacon of freedom while other countries, not so much. We are allowed to have blogs and say whatever the hell we want^^ granted by the first amendment. We house the wealthiest in the world. The USA has a separation of powers which makes it more democratic than England--which is another fantastic country IMO. Town sheriffs are elected here, in the UK they're appointed (not democratic). The sales tax in Canada is ridiculous because of their free healthcare. You have to pay for health care even if you dont want to. That's not democratic at all. Also, Canada is not as powerful as the US. Canada wanted to make marijuana legal, the US told them not to, and they obliged. In the year 2000, we donated over 200 million dollars over seas to help out. Sounds like a lovely country to me. (including our incessant help to Israel...which reminds me, isnt Bebe Jewish?) In India, you can bribe an officer to do whatever you please. You can give him a few rupees to void your traffic ticket. In America, bribery would get you in jail. America is amazing. Now Bebe, why are you wearing that patriotic get up?
ReplyDeleteLOL helping out Israel is not something to brag about. It's something to be ashamed of you idiot....also not every Jew supports Israel's actions because some can look at things with rational perception.
DeleteWhy is helping out another country bad? You must be a bitter Palestinian. Oh and it's *rational perspective* not perception. Go back to the 9th grade. Also, Bebe is studying woman's studies at UNLV.... And Jacqueline is telling US to get educated? Pathetic.
DeleteI'm not a bitter Palestinian. I'm a British Jew who has been to the Gaza strip and seen the devastation that the IDF cause first-hand. Your country might as well be pouring money into the hands of dictators who oppress their people...oh wait you already did that on multiple occasions! Get off your high horse and bitch please, I stand by perception.
DeleteI think you just proved my point: America is fantastic in many ways, but it's not the only country in the world to offer the things you just mentioned.
DeleteWOW.... ok... girl you turned it up with this outfit. GETTUMMMM
ReplyDeleteWe should ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS be greatful to be living in the country we live in. Yes, there are thousands and thousands of imperfects in the government, etc. That being said, instead of bitching, whinning and people being rude up in here, go educate yourselves, hop off Bebe's blog and move on with your shit. Stop acting like a bunch of little kids. Don't like what she wrote??! AVERT YA EYES. Keep the negativity away.
Seriously, grow up. The internet disgusts me sometimes. Instead of giving her helpful feedback or POLITE comments, ya bash her. I don't get it. It's pathetic and plain disgusting.
xx Jackie-0/Jacqueline
fngm.blogspot.com
I think it's pathetic and plain disgusting for her to bash her fans on her facebook status: "I never noticed how fucking idiotic my fanbase was until I tried to have a conversation with them about why America sucks. You all fucking embarrass me." Then she takes to her Twitter to ask those same fans to come on here and belittle someone who dares to challenge her. On her facebook status she deleted and shot down people who tried to rationally offer a different opinion that wasn't Bebe's gospel with immature taunts towards them with the backup of her sister who at one point said a girl need to kill herself for daring to have a different opinion to her. The va girls are pretentious and hypocritical to the core.
DeleteHa and did you see what she said to her mother on twitter? Typical spoiled suburban teenage bullshit. But of course, she's probably proud of it.
DeletePlease tell me that once again, you're simply writing satirically...Because this is hilarious! Every single country on the planet has their own vast majority of problems. But, citizens of the United States are more free than citizens in nearly every other country on the planet. My parents worked their asses off to be able to move to America so that they could give their children more opportunities in life. Try living in Colombia, where my father is from, and then complain about your lack of freedom! And really, if you're so distraught over the state that our nation is in, how about you stop spending so much time creating ridiculous costumes to take pictures in and actually go out and do something about it? Do what you're saying and actually put your foot down and make a stand rather than bitching about it online and then going straight back to your nonchalant life where you can do whatever you please. Typing a pointless rant on a fashion blog, after spending so much time on your perfect makeup isn't achieving much of anything.
ReplyDeleteOh, and wearing clothes representing the American flag, while claiming your disdain for the nation is far worse than even the morons who wear tshirts of bands they don't even like.
Aside from your often contradictory half-formed political opinions that have been addressed by everyone else already, your writing reads like a high schooler that just discovered a thesaurus.
ReplyDeleteStick to the great outfits and work on your writing skills and political ideals elsewhere.
Your such a fly girl!!!
ReplyDeleteLove it...Happy 4th
Amen! Love this look from head to toe!
ReplyDeletewww.lovecharliej.blogspot.com
To the Beebz, I appreciate that you've continued to use your blog and other social networks as platforms to voice your personal opinions regardless of the opposition. That along with another rockin' outfit. Your creativity is as inspiring as ever, and so is your eloquence and ability to express your political views in a vocal manner.
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued by the little controversy that's been sparked by this post. While I don't claim to know Bebe's opinions fully, it seems that there has been a miscommunication error somewhere along the line. Words being put in mouths. Irrelevant insults being thrust at people. My interpretation of Bebe's post (though compounded with other knowledge of her political views via formspring) is that she is upset at the level of equality between citizens of the United States. It's ridiculous that one would argue that between ethnicities, social classes, and other socioeconomic divisions that all individuals have equal opportunity within the U.S.. She's not being ungrateful or ignorant of her privilege. It sounds to me like she is perhaps even condemning the fact that it exists in the first place. Maybe idealistic, but certainly not ignorant.
And I may be misinterpreting something here, but is the main argument that the U.S. rocks so hard at holding individual freedom to a higher standard than other states and that so much change has already been made that we shouldn't feel the need to induce more??? I think that the political views Bebe expressed in this post are neither contradictory nor ignorant, but are instead — as she said — progressive. The popular "we-have-more-liberty-than-that-country-so-all-is-well-because-America-rocks-in-comparison" argument is just awful. Decreasing a flaw (or, in this case, a number of flaws in American society, government, etc.) subjectively does not make it any better objectively.
And are some of you SERIOUSLY perpetuating the idea that because Bebe is interested in clothing and style that she is not allowed to venture into more intellectual topics? Because if so, ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!?!?! I mean, who the fuck are you to tell someone what to do and what not to do? Isn't this FuCkIn AmErIcA where we thankfully have the right to choose what we do with our lives? If you don't agree with her opinions, fine, but why the hell would you even consider telling her to refrain from having any? Such backwards and shitty behavior. I'd think that such pro-America people would at least respect Bebe's right to have her own opinions.
And Bebe, if I mistranslated anything you've said in your post, I apologize.
Yeah, she should be able to say whatever she wants but when she is a public figure, she should know what she is conveying and not call us all fucking idiots on her personal FB. Even her mother agreed with one anon. Go look at her twitter. And stop kissing Bebe's ass.
Delete"And are some of you SERIOUSLY perpetuating the idea that because Bebe is interested in clothing and style that she is not allowed to venture into more intellectual topics?"
DeleteNo, nobody had insinuated any sort of ideology. Reading her answers on formspring should tell you how often bebe slyly belittle's anyone who doesn't treat personal style in the same manner that she does. If anyone truly cared about the state of the country, why would they take pictures of themselves dressed in ironic American flag print while writing about how terrible the US is? Instead, they could go out and do something useful rather than start fights over
FB and Twitter. Her formspring will also show you how often she contradicts herself on a variety of topics. From hipster culture to feminism, it's a new opinion every day.
And, anyone who first acknowledged bebe as a hipster runoff meme before knowing her as a fashion blogger will know that she will do anything to spark a reaction from people. If you want to write ridiculous bullshit in search of cyber fame *ahem" I mean, "relevancy," then fine. Just don't bitch about it when you get called out on the shit you write.
Could you be any more of a zombie ass-kisser, Salia?
DeleteI commented because I align personally with Bebe's views, otherwise I wouldn't even have had that much of a reason to spew off on three-or-so paragraphs. And, as I see it, kissing someone's ass would imply that there is some sort of authority figure and Bebe is just a blogger who had a somewhat similar opinion.
Delete"And Bebe, if I mistranslated anything you've said in your post, I apologize."
DeleteIf Bebe is "just a blogger", why are you going out of your way to cater to her? Making sure she doesn't misinterept your comment as "traitorous" (anything that doesn't completely and utterly align with her opinion) or God knows you're going to face her wrath. It's obvious you DO consider her an "authority figure", enough so, to kiss her ass and superfluously apologize for something you shouldn't be apologizing for, yet apologize you do.
P.S. Don't you know that Bebe isn't "just a blogger"? She considers herself to be the fucking princess of the blogsphere! For an ass-kisser, you're terrible with details.
P.S.S. Why don't you get a your own personality, instead of worshipping everything Bebe says or does. Christ.
COULDN'T AGREE MORE WITH Anonymous July 5, 2012 12:31 AM
DeleteBebe zeva is such a dumb attention-whore... Someone said she should stick to clothing, I don't think it was offensive or meaning that she doesn't have the right to express her opinions, it was actually a VERY KIND advice. That way people won't realize she isn't the smart girl she pretends to be, a bimbo dropping big words on big topics with much delusion and no real insight.
Alright, yikes. I said that comment because I didn't want to be putting words in her mouth. I wouldn't want to put words in anyone's mouth, so I apologize if it happens.
DeleteAnd I understand that you may think I don't have a personality because of the fact you've only seen me in two comments. That still doesn't justify why you find it relevant at all to make that assumption, but whatev. This ain't my blog so I'm not gonna continue using it as a platform to rationalize my own actions.
aside from what people/you think about politics, keep writing. it's clear that you care about writing, and i think it serves you well, so don't let commenters discourage you--which is like duh, i know. but you're a good writer and you'll get better. consider the haters a means of making sure you're getting real feedback and not just sycophantic shit.
ReplyDeleteand honestly i wouldn't be surprised to learn that these other anon posts are written by the same like three people.
As far as her "haters" go, they aren't unwarranted. If someone's writing complete bullshit, I'm not just going to sit there idly and do nothing about it.
Deleteif America's so bad, leave. There are millions who want your citizenship.
ReplyDeleteBebe has specifically stated on multiple occasions the many reasons she does not want to leave america. if you don't like her opinions than you may also leave.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteReading the comments on this post is absolutely appalling.
ReplyDeleteFirst, the idea that anyone would find Bebe's writing style convoluted is a testimony to how flawed the public school system in the US truly is.
Second, the idea that people genuinely think "not as bad as it could be" is tantamount to "as good as it should be" is ridiculous. There is no justification for the idea that because something is not terrible, we should not strive for perfection.
Third, the "America, love it or leave it" mentality is extremely hypocritical. The US was founded in honor of the notions of progress, justice, and equality. This country's every success is in tribute to those ideals, and its every failure (because yes, every nation has its failures) is in the areas in which it does not allow for progress, justice, and equality.
If everyone thought the way the critical commenters on this post think, America never would have been founded (and, actually, thousands of Native American lives would have been spared). Everyone would have simply been contented under British monarchy because "it's not as bad as it could be".
Ironically enough, Bebe's position is more "American" than any of the critical responses I've seen on this post, because it is a call to adhere to the very principles on which the US was founded.
Bebe, this is the only time I will EVER play this card, but as someone with a genius-level IQ score, I can assure you that you're right. Some of your blog followers are absolute fucking idiots.
This is life, it is unfair. Perfection does not exist. Don't like it? Fine, then get off the planet. Otherwise, be grateful for what you have because loads of people have it worse. America is striving to make changes for the better at all times, but it is extremely hard. If you think you can run a better country, then do it.
DeleteAnd hahahaha genius-level IQ score? And I thought Bebe was the most pretentious blogger on the planet...
You can be grateful for what you have and still aim for what you do not have. The two are not mutually exclusive, and that is the point that people absurdly fail to understand.
DeleteThe pursuit of perfection is constant and ongoing and calls for constant re-evaluation and growth. The reward is not in the overall achievement of an intangible thing; it is in the small victories won in the pursuit.
...what part of "America is striving to make changes for the better at all times" did you not understand? 0_o
DeleteI don't understand the part where it contradicts the "this is life, it is unfair" statement that indicates people should settle for injustice or "get off the planet", then the part where you are hostile because someone is pointing out the areas that need improvement despite obviously understanding that improvements need to be made.
DeleteBy all means, don't settle for injustice. Get off your ass and do something about it you're so upset.
DeleteOh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize you thought that was an option, seeing as the only two options you presented were "get off the planet" or "be grateful for what you have".
DeleteIt seems that you actually encourage dialogue in order to achieve progress, and that you and I don't have a conflict at all.
Thank you for your support of Bebe's blog post. I whole-heartedly concur with your assessment that people should strive for improvement and hold their governments accountable for inaction.
Yes, let's all strive for improvement. But unlike Bebe, let's not all be unpatriotic dicks about it and bash a country that has come so far to get where we are now. And hey, instead of writing pointless blog posts while dressed in "ironic" American flag clothing, let's actually go out into the world and find something to do. Attend a gay pride parade, protest the laws people are attempting to be placed which will make abortion illegal. Just do something and then blog about it, rather than just talk nonsense.
DeleteThis is ridiculous. Patriotism is not always a positive thing. Blind patriotism is responsible for witch-hunts and McCarthyism and holocausts. Patriotism is only positive when people care about their country enough to challenge it to change and grow.
Delete"A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government." - Edward Abbey
"Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it." - Mark Twain
"The highest patriotism is not a blind acceptance of official policy, but a love of one's country deep enough to call her to a higher plain." - George McGovern
"Our country is not the only thing to which we owe our allegiance. It is also owed to justice and to humanity. Patriotism consists not in waving the flag, but in striving that our country shall be righteous as well as strong.” - James Bryce
Furthermore, establishing dialogue on a platform that reaches thousands of people daily isn't just "talking nonsense". It is stimulating critical thought and encouraging people (especially people who would not otherwise consider politics) to pay attention to what goes on around them and call light to existing injustices. I'd say that's fucking doing something.
Yes, she is definitely encouraging people...I'm encouraged to ship all of the pretentious fashion bloggers to a 3rd world country to give them something real to complain about.
DeleteMaybe you 2 should just get out of the country and start your own since you're both so perfect. Really, can't believe such a "genius" is supporting an idiotic post written by a girl who is notorious for writing stupid shit just to get recognition. All this post does is show what a spoiled white girl Bebe is.
Going around and around is dull now. Basically, some fashion bloggers just need to stick to blogging about their free clothes.
Well, it's a good thing that Mark Twain isn't alive, because I guess you'd be shipping him off to a third-world country, as well, to give him something to complain about.
DeleteAgain, this is not a difficult concept to understand: "better than it could be" is not tantamount to "as good as it should be". The goal of any society should be progress.
;
You obviously dislike fashion bloggers and feel that anyone with an interest in aesthetics and a platform through which they receive attention for that interest is inherently unable to hold any other interests or form worthwhile opinions. It's obvious that you don't take issue with the content of Bebe's post; you take issue with the fact that it's Bebe saying it. I'm not sure why you're harboring such undue animosity towards a teenage girl on the internet, but your hostility is bizarre and unnatural.
I have no idea why you feel the need to refer to Mark Twain, a dead man whom I know nothing about nor care to learn anything about, so good argument there genius...
DeleteNo, it is actually a fantastic concept. It is completely true! Does that mean that America (or any country on the planet) will ever be "as good as it should be?" Absolutely not! And it never will be. Obviously nobody ever taught someone how tough reality is. Now, why is "do something about it" such a difficult concept to understand? If you're so fucking pissed off at the state that the country is in, fucking become a politician where you actually have some small power to make a change. Maybe then you'll realize how difficult it truly is to make even the smallest change in this country and how blogging about it is accomplishing nothing.
And for the record, I love some fashion bloggers who have amazing opinions. Hell, I've even read a few of your posts and liked what I saw. Bebe on the other hand, is not forming "worthwhile opinions." She is simply bashing the country she is lucky enough to be born in and doing absolutely shit to back up her opinions or defend them. She must rely on the few people who actually agree with this post to help make her not look like the spoiled brat that she is. And, I myself am a teenage girl, far younger than you and bebe. Bebe is an attention whore who loves pissing people off and begs for this kind of attention on the internet.
i think it's interesting that your argument against madeline is that you don't care about mark twain. this only further proves how completely closed minded and ignorant you are. i will not in any way express my personal opinion, but i think you should take a look at the way you are presenting yourself and how completely stupid you sound.
Deletemadeline is the one who sounds completely stupid. quoting authors is not what people do when they cant think of something to say themselves and talking about mark twain proves how vapid her and bebe are. people all over the world don't even have the luxury to read literature, but in the u.s. we do. You are obviously her or bebe's friend so continue to kiss their asses and support their moronic self righteous activist attempts. If this last comment is true, then a young teen girl just made a fool out of a genius. I agree with all the anons who don't like this post.
Deletefor all we know this could have been a middle aged man claiming to be a teenage girl to sound impressive. But that wouldn't be as bad as the idiot girl claiming to be a genius and then spouting off about unrealistic expectations. I'm just happy someone, no matter what age or gender stood up to tell yet another spoiled fashion blogger how hard reality is.
DeleteBeing someone with a supposedly "genius-level IQ score" YOU'RE an absolute fucking idiot. Britain is still ruling under monarchy and I believe it's leaps ahead of America in so many ways...not to mention the UK is generally a more liberal country that doesn't call out "communist!" or "anti-semite!" anytime anyone says anything even slightly to the left of Glenn Beck and other ridiculously patriotic right-wing nutters. For a genius you seem to be arguing with yourself and have no real point in this post. Bang your head against a wall and try again.
ReplyDeleteThe "monarchy" bit was in reply to people who are very gung-ho American but refuse to acknowledge the fact that it took the very qualities Bebe is expressing in order to found the US. I was in no way establishing a hierarchy wherein the US is better than (or worse than, for that matter) the UK.

You aren't revolutionary. You're a vapid blogger with a big mouth both literally and figuratively. Don't mistake reiterating concepts you've read about but never experienced on a blog as being an activist.
