This is my second time rocking the teased hair + headband + cat eye combination! It's inspired by mod styles popularized in the 60s. You know the stuff -- Twiggy lashes, shift dresses, thigh-high boots. But instead of sporting a more traditional print like squares and stripes, I opted for a paisley jumpsuit to give the ensemble some psychedelic pizzazz. It's kinda like I'm merging two subcultures from one of the most pivotal eras in fashion history. I call it... factory girl goes Woodstock.
FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:
Headband - Vintage (...since I've had it since I was 11 years old and that's pretty darn vintage to me.)
Sunglasses - 80s Purple
Paisley jumpsuit - Natural Colour
Braided belt - Natural Colour
Medallion necklace - Oscar de la Renta
Peeptoe pumps - PINK & PEPPER
One-pieces get a lot slack for their inconvenient construction, but I think their overall novelty makes up for it. I admit that it SUCKS when you're wearing a romper adorned with necklaces and belts galore and you have to pee reeeeeally bad in a public place. There's a lot of dressing and undressing in a cramped bathroom stall, hanging up your jewelry on the coat hanger, and tinkling topless while *praying* that no creepy passerby peeps at you through the crack between the door and the wall. (Is this TMI yet?) I've heard from a lot of douchey guys that rompers are an impediment to their "access" to a woman's nether region. [OPERATIVE WORD: DOUCHEY]. Needless to say, deterring potential molestation attempts only emphasizes the appeal of the garment for me. One other major benefit of the one-piece is HELLO! You totally don't have to waste time trying to find a matching top and bottom! All the work is done for you, save accessories and foot gear. I will admit that sometimes the process of matching a shirt and pants is creatively stimulating and therefore FUN, but not all of us have time for that shindig. And on those days... ta da! The hybrid.
These heels have turned out to be one of the most practical pairs in my wardrobe. I did NOT expect that at first, as the Aztec print in the back is pretty specific (and on top of that, very few of my clothes incorporate both brown, burnt orange, and blue, as are included in the shoe's color scheme.) No matter! They compliment almost ANY ensemble with a warm palette, and the Aztec print does more enhancing than distracting. How well they worked with this particular print is a testament to their versatility. Really looking forward to showing you ANOTHER look where they beautifully compliment a paisley chiffon sundress. Does anybody know if I can make a career out of finding outfits for these heels? Serious question. Check out the rest of Pink and Pepper's genius collection on DSW!
