DOT YOUR STRIPES!

How many black and white outfits in a row do you have to wear to before it's annoying? Asking for a friend. No, seriously, I feel like I'm hoarding inspiration of the 'stereotypical French fille' variety and manifesting it in my ever-more-Parisian wardrobe. It's funny because French people seriously don't dress the way I imagine that they do. Really emphasizes how un-cosmopolitan I am deep down... my sister has traveled to Europe and insists that, though Parisians are thin and gorgeous and conscious of their appearances, they don't wear black and white stripes quite as often as they wear Longchamp bags and flats. Boo. I want everyone to look like a page out of a coloring book. Except no colors, please. Can my monochromatic outfits emphasize that enough??

Striped dress - YES STYLE
Lace socks - Forever 21
Polka dot heels - PINK & PEPPER
Bag - Lanvin

You know what's a cool thing? Stripes and polka dots in the same outfit. Even cooler is stripes ON stripes. I don't understand not being self-aware about cliche patterns and arranging obnoxious combinations for kitsch appeal. This outfit is pretty mild (if you're me) but now I have better ideas... in need of a mannequin to test my fashion visions before I publicly make a fool of myself. If you love the polka dots adorning my lil' feet, get yourself a pair by placing an order here or browse other styles on the PINK AND PEPPER page on DSW!

P.S. Romwe is having a MAJOR sale where everything in stock is 75% off until July 31st... that's the day after tomorrow! Like I said before, most of my staple garments, like blouses, sweaters, and skirts, come from Romwe. Even their accessory collection is top-notch! You can find creepers, stilettos, and chunky platform sandals in the shoe department. It's worth a look, even if you don't end up making a purchase. Lots of inspiration to go around!

CRUELLA DE VIL

Theme dressing has reached new lows... not only am I deriving inspiration from Disney cartoons, but evil, dog-napping, puppy-killing, fur-stealing cartoons at that! Totally not my fault that Cruella from 101 Dalmatians happens to be a source of EXQUISITE style savvy. Let's be real: she's so Chanel. Little Black Dress, pointed pumps, and in the 1996 live action remake of the film, a fitted Houndstooth skirt suit. Wouldn't surprise me if Karl Lagerfeld himself volunteered to do wardrobe for Glenn Close's interpretation of Cruella. The animation looks like a beautiful French croquis sketched by Coco for an early 60s collection. Y'all must hate me for glamorizing a pet stealer. At least my fur coat is faux!

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:

Fishnet hat - Roselle Cottage
Lipstick - Glamour 101 by Lime Crime
Necklace - Chanel
Faux fur coat - Jet Rag Vintage
Black dress - In Love With Fashion
Dalmatian print heels - Pink and Pepper

I'm usually not one to aim for a posh, old-money style look. Gritty, grungy, rock and rollin' is more my cup of orange soda. But I couldn't resist taking cues from the 1940s with this ensemble. The dalmatian print heels IMMEDIATELY reminded me of Disney's iconic villainess and I knew I had to put this faux fur jacket to use! All the small details in the outfit accentuate each other's vintage element. The Chanel necklace and fishnet veil, the silk gloves and cigarette holder, the dark lips and Clara Bow eyes. Little things! Big statements. If you want a pair of Pink & Pepper heels for your own collection of party shoes, browse their line on DSW and see what's available! You can order the exact pair I'm wearing right here. While you're doing that, I'm going to google image pictures of dalmatian puppies and scream into a pillow.

BABYCAKE

Remember the good old days when "preppy" meant giant white sunglasses, teased blonde hair, a low-rise light-wash pleated denim skirt, rhinestone encrusted tank top, and flip flops? I'm talking Simple Life, small dog, Ashlee Simpson status. The year was 2006. All American Rejects and Danity Kane dominated airwaves. Logos like Von Dutch and Juicy Couture determined who was popular and who was shopping at (yuck!) Hot Topic in middle school. Chunky flip flops, layered tank tops, and popped collars were the norm... if you were cool. Man, I miss my youth. My REAL youth. Seventh grade, pool parties, cheerleading try-outs, arbitrary social hierarchies. The golden days of yore! Now I gotta wear pastel outfits like THIS ONE. You know I'd rather be rockin' a Tiffany & Co heart necklace than this TRENDY ASS polka dot blouse. Kidding. Kind of.

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:
Glasses - Romwe
Necklace - Chanel
Blouse - YES STYLE
Belt - Brighton
Pink pants - Joe's Jeans
Espadrille wedges - Nine West
Flower bag - Valentino

I just can't help but wonder how far these Prada inspired glasses from Romwe would have gotten me in terms of popularity if I were still a 13 year old. Anything to strike a stronger resemblance to OC it-girls Lauren Conrad and Kristen Cavallari. FEELING REALLY SERIOUSLY NOSTALGIC RIGHT NOW. Feel free to snail mail me all three seasons of Laguna Beach.

MOTO CHROMATIC

Something you might now know about me is that despite being a legal adult at the ripe age of 18, I still don't have a license to drive! Never even got my permit in high school. I don't really see any reason to drive at this point in my life, especially since the city transportation system gets me everywhere I need to be. It's also better for the environment, and doesn't require that I spend thousands of dollars annually on insurance. Wish Americans didn't have such pompous egos in thinking that they're 'too good' to ride the bus. But despite all that about me not having a car, it is one of my fantasies to own a motorcycle. Is it strange that I think careening through the city streets on a purring Harley would be somehow romantic? I imagine that it'd endear me to the world. This outfit features a motorcycle jacket with a very delicate flair, accented by my slightly fancier tights and shoes. Who says I can't ride a bike in heels??

Moto jacket - CHICWISH, www.chicwish.com
Polka blouse - ROMWE, www.romwe.com
Sheer skirt - Wholesale-dress.net
Patent pumps - YES STYLE, www.yesstyle.com

Love this moto jacket because it's not uniform leather. It's mostly made of soft woven cotton, which I think makes it more feminine and functional. I paired it with a mini-skirt and moi new patent pumps for a super classic silhouette. Sometimes I get so caught up in horsing around in ankle boots and a jean jacket that I forget how fun it is to dress like I'm en route to ballet class or something.

I know, I know. The silver heel and dainty rhinestone clasps are the best part. That, and the fact that they were under $30.
