CLUELESS

Despite what the title suggests, I was anything but clueless while dressing myself earlier this week. Don't get me confused with a used car salesman, my style inspiration was Cher Horowitz from the iconic 90s film and television show. Being 'in with the times' gets old after a while! The best outfits are those that incorporate authentically antique charms. I sought to salvage the spirit of 1995 with this incredible - and quintessentially clueless - plaid suit. Somebody fetch me a giant cell phone!!

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:
My signature cap- vintage!
Plaid jacket and high waisted shorts- Parao, handed down to me from Technorazzi blogger Christine Marie who knew I'd appreciate it in all it's magenta rayon glory!
Belt- vintage
Heels- Ralph Lauren

You don't have to think it's glamorous or flattering, but you are BEYOND obligated to acknowledge that I look like a divalicious high schooler from Beverly Hills circa 19kwhatever. Just look at that raspberry and turquoise plaid print...

In case you're wondering where on Earth I could have possibly worn this multicolor masterpiece (YES, I did just call it a masterpiece, dealwithit.gif), I'll tell you! Travis and I had a day out on the Strip that ended with me meeting Lindsay Wilson, an internet penpal who visited all the way from Toronto, Canada! Pictorial evidence of us unabashedly lifing in an MGM Starbucks:

SIDE BRAID AND CLOGS

Remember how I said I was trying to get creative with my new bangs? Well, I arranged this side-braid hairstyle as a result (inspired by Alexander Wang ss10). It took five minutes and saved me about an hour's worth of bang-induced anxiety. I wore it with my leather jacket, black jeans, and clogs to Vegas' newest hotel, The Cosmopolitan.

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:
Jacket- Members Only
T-shirt- Hanes
Belt- Vintage
Jeans- Rock & Republic
Clogs- Candies

A word about the clogs: I cannot afford Miu Miu or Jeffrey Campbell clogs because I am a jobless seventeen year old girl with no disposable income. So I bought these 4-inchers from Kohl's for $18! No joke, 18 dollars, and that's including tax. Best deal of my life.

The Cosmopolitan didn't really have much going for it in terms of architecture and decor (my opinion) but the buffet had THE BEST dessert on this side of the country. There are also two great clothing stores you should check out if you're ever in the area: All Saints (you've certainly already heard of it) and Beckley. I had my best ever shopping experience at Beckley- the sales people dressed me up like a brunette Barbie in dresses by Sass & Bide and jeggings by David Lerner. I wish they were my personal stylists on the daily...

BABY DOLL

You might not know this, but I'm a sucker for cute things. Ruffles, lace, petticoats, hair bows, pastels, rosettes, and sparkles. It's why I'm so obsessed with Japanese Lolita culture and secretly aspire to be cutie pie Harajuku girl. But I can't quite get away with the style that makes asian lolitas so quintessentially adorable (yet). Until I can capture their effortlessly executed aesthetic, I'll settle for something much more subtle- like the line of pastel skirts, bodysuits, hair bows and ankle socks from American Apparel. In other words, Elle Ribera's entire wardrobe.

Here's today's outfit, vaguely reminiscent of a bubblegum baby doll.

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:
Tavi Gevinson inspired pink hair bow- my closet
Oversize pink blazer- Escada
Black leotard- American Apparel
Pink/silver belt- vintage
Tennis skirt- Tommy Hilfiger
Heels- Rialto

I also find it quite humorous that despite my propensity to wear all black at all times, the most popular color in my closet is PINK. I'll hit you with a photograph one of these days.

MIME GIRL

Can't say much today- I'm a mime! If only I were skilled enough to embed a video in which I provide a detailed charade that explains where each article of clothing is from. Looks like I'm going to have to break a few mime rules just this once by spelling it out.

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:
Cap- Not sure, vintage
Red lipstick- MAC Powerhouse
Bow tie- DIY
Striped shirt- Gap
Suspenders- American Apparel
Pants- Rock & Republic
Flats- Target

I chose to dress 'mime-esque' today because I wanted to utilize my black suspenders in the most creative way possible. While the theme is gimmicky, the simple color scheme and fluid silhouette are still sophisticated. The statement piece of my outfit isn't actually a piece at all- it's my lipstick! It was tempting to go all out with the white and black facepaint, but I figured that this outfit was more a 'playful interpretation' of an idea than a full-blown costume. So I settled for a BRIGHT red kisser and called it a day!
