GOING GRUNGE

Yesterday was my first day 'back to school' since winter break and I kicked it off wearing something that, ironically, ALWAYS makes me feel confident; flannel. Seems like most people throw on plaid flannel button-downs when they're having a lazy day and would reeeeeally rather not put the extra effort in. But I see flannel totally differently! Since it's such a laid-back article of clothing, it requires the wearer to put much more thought into composing an appropriate outfit. I ran with the 90s garage grunge vibe since it's simple, low-maintenance, and unusual for the Las Vegas fashion community (tongue in cheek) (we don't have an active fashion community). Anyway, it felt great and it made me feel justified in stomping around the concrete acting like I owned the place. I guess the 1990s rebel in me only emerges after I've gone grunge.

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:
Beanie- Vintage
Plaid flannel- Ralph Lauren
Shorts- Guess
Socks- Forever 21
Creepers- Classified

PLEASE indulge me and let me show you the creepers I've been bragging about non-stop for the past month and half up close. I paired them with a couple of lace-top socks from Forever 21 (on sale for $2, y'all) for a touch of cute vs. edgy that could only be appreciated if my ankles were eye-level. To save you the trouble of zooming, I'll provide you with a few close-up shots since you're probably just DYIN over there DESPERATE to see what I'm talking about. I KNOW, Michael Jackon's untimely 2009 death wasn't even close to how interesting my socks are!!!!!

Let me know what you think and if you have any garage rock music recommendations to provide!

P▲R†Y B▲BE

Just doing a short post today because I don't have much commentary to make about this 'party ensemble'. It's more of a make-of-it-what-you-will type get up and I hope you think it's as much fun as I do! Please save the 'cliche-white-imperialist-teenage-hipster' criticism for a pop culture forum, not my blog! Wearing clothing as an homage to Native American history is not meant to be offensive so please don't get your panties up in a bunch! ;) This photoset is meant to exhibit the spirit of our light-hearted, care-free youth. I don't expect anyone to take it too seriously in terms of 'fashion fundamentals'. It's just for fun!

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:
Head dress- Party City, dyed the feathers neon colors myself
Tie-dye Native American t-shirt- Gift from Travis!
Creepers- Classified

P.S. You can still buy some of the clothes I modeled for The Cobrashop! Go go go go!

FIND ME †H▲† FRENCH GIRL

It's no secret that I'm infatuated with French culture. I still have much to learn about France including its language and history, but that still won't stop me from admiring its effortless sophistication at least from afar. I know it's not 2009 anymore and I'm probably a little too old and self-aware to be quoting such cliche indie song lyrics but... one day I'm gonna in Paris. I promise, I'm on it. Here's the beatnik French girl inspired outfit I wore for a hectic day out on the town yesterday!

†RI▲NGLE SHIR†

I know what you're thinking. "That shirt is SO aligned with your personal brand, Bebe." And you can thank Wildfox Couture for making that alignment possible in the first place! I decided that this metallic triangle t-shirt is presently my favorite item of clothing. It's long enough to cover my butt and wear with a pair of thigh-high tights like I did last Friday for the downtown arts festival. For those who wonder, I never wear t-shirts without a proper garment underneath! That means no matter how long the hem, there's always a skirt, dress or pair of shorts hiding beneath my top. I'm WAY too self-conscious to let the wind blow where the sun doesn't shine... ;)

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:
Beanie- H&M
Glasses- Tilly's
Shirt- Wildfox Couture
Tights- H&M
Heels- Vera Wang

And I OF COURSE always show you guys when I get a new pair of shoes, so please give a warm welcome to these navy peep-toe sling-back Vera Wang pumps! The elevated black platform makes the stiletto rise much less intimidating for a heel-challenged girl like me and considerably easier to walk in! I'd actually say that these are one of my more comfortable pairs of platform shoes.

Here's a polaroid my wonderful friend Nick took of me outside the WASH-A-RAMA in our downtown arts district! Nick is the most dedicated photographer of Vegas culture and has more experience with film cameras than anyone I know. If you want to know what life is like for two 17 year olds in Las Vegas, check out his work- he expertly captures the lifestyle with his brilliant eye for aesthetics and urban beauty.
