NO VACANCY

Somewhere in the twilight hour, a fleeting sparkle emerges from the depths of our pupils and consumes our temporary existences. We're overcome by a subtle euphoria- a happiness that always exists but can only be triggered by a change of light or temperature. When the sun rises, we sense the grandeur of impending opportunities. Our breaths come and go in staccato gasps. We're in love with the future. And when the sun sets, we bathe in the romantic warmth of our accomplishment. We attack and release. We anticipate tomorrow and the best part is... we've got time to kill.

Enveloped by the thrill of the incoming evening, I leaned against the wall of an abandoned motel and pretended to be bored. I was distracted by nothing- my focus was monopolized by the setting sun and winter wind. The parking lot was empty but my mind was made. There's no vacancy in the realm of pursuit. I'm chasing the lightness- stay up all night just to spy the dawn.
