I used to hate the desert. I thought the arid plain was ugly and unromantic. The east coast "spoke to me" because it was intellectual and industrial and tragic in all its metal and concrete. Brick warehouses, dive bars, barren lofts, I wanted all of it. The West seemed stupid. Spirituality seemed stupid. Nature repulsed me. I don't know when or why I changed, but I definitely did. Kind of. I still think cities like Brooklyn are beautiful (my myspace location in 2008 was "wait for me Williamsburg because I hate Las Vegas, Nevada") and I might even move there if presented the opportunity. But I sense that as much as I'm enamored with tall buildings, I actually belong in the desert. There's something mystical about the raw terrain. And I feel humbled while driving through it on a road trip, like it's a divine gift. Guess you could say this outfit is a creative manifestation of me coming to terms with my western wonder. Snakeskin print, wolf tee, fringe vest, and cowgirl charm... California, I think I speak your language.
FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:
Hat - Zara with Chanel chain detail
Glasses - Party City
Vest - YES STYLE
Shirt - THE FABULOUS STAINS
Jewelry - Gold necklace from Oscar De La Renta, shark tooth from Rock n' Rose
Wrist cuff - Tribe Nouveau
Pants - ROMWE
Boots - ZIGI, Karmaloop
I've seen my favorite fashion bloggers rock snakeskin skinnies in so many ways... thought it was due time that I offer my own interpretation of the print! Since the desert is a habitat for reptiles, I figured these pants lent themselves to a western theme. So I went hard with it -- wolf tee included.
Everything is infinite,
Bebe Zeva

LOL that's so funny, actually. I'm from California myself and I am so drawn to the East Coast. It just feels so much more different and exciting. I actually feel like I dress more like a New Yorker than your "typical" Californian (you know, cutoffs and tee's). Don't get me wrong, California is great; I like it here and there are tons of things to do, but man...New York....such a different story...and at the same time, the West Coast has it's specialness...
ReplyDeleteglad you mentioned that. I feel like such a bro, haha.
