Call it an overdose on polka dots, I still think it's en vogue to exaggerate with patterns every once in a blue moon! Wore this spotty ensemble to an evening picnic last weekend. I hardly needed the blazer, but I'm never one to go out of the house without a proper serving of layers and structure. Better to be overdressed and chicer than the rest!

VELVET WITCH

Whether or not I'm wicked is up for debate, but one thing is certain; I'm definitely from the west. Fusing cowgirl flair with witchery and bohemia was the perfect choice for a day of desert dress-up. Sheer robes are about all I can handle in this heat and luckily they match nearly every one of my favorite themes. I can always find a way to tie in a splash of black, but nothing tops head-to-toe darkness. Nothing.

PEACHY PAVILION

Just because it's summer doesn't mean I'm exempt from wearin' black and white! I know the magazines are telling you to whip out your best floral prints and that's exactly why I'm tucking mine even farther back into the depths of my closet. Whatever's hip is not happenin... here's how to go monochrome and still maintain that spark of summer.

PETTICOAT SKIRT

Guess who's back from California and ready to rumble????? MOI!!!! Sorry about my ~2 week absence from the blogiverse. I took an extended vacation in Hollywood and wasted time walking the boulevard in seek of inspiration and some sort of temporary enlightenment. Endured plenty of disasters along the way, namely a brutal sunburn courtesy of Venice Beach and a full can of 7-Up spilling all over my favorite new equestrian duffel bag. But in retrospect, the trip was great! Now I'm back home and ready to motherfreakin ROCK!! Happy summer, everyone!

Delighted to say that I am FINALLY in possession of a cream-colored petticoat skirt! I added a little black bow in lieu of a belt to enhance its cuteness since evidently that's ALL I care about in life. The striped shirt was kinda spontaneous but it worked out great. This particular outfit doesn't seem to follow a theme but who cares!! They say the best things in life can't be defined... (actually, I just made that up but feel free to quote me).

LE CIRQUE

Gather round ladies and gentlemen... the circus is IN TOWN! And by in town, I really mean "my bedroom". This look is inspired by centuries old ringmaster uniforms from the era of touring troupes, trapeze artists, juggling jesters, and cannon-balling-clowns. Ironically, I've never been to the circus, but I have seen my share of Cirque Du Soleil shows, if that counts. Personally, watching fifty muscular men in facepaint and grass skirts contort their bodies in mid-air while doing backflips from a 90 degree trampoline is infinitely better than watching ten clowns pop out of a tiny car. Or is it the other way around? I don't do any tricks, but I can wiggle my bow tie back and forth and peer at you oh-so-eerily from behind my oversized black lenses. If only I had an audience larger than my stuffed animal collection...
