WICKED

The wicked witch is back, forever. I'm sorry I kept her hidden for so long... I guess I got so enveloped in experimenting with other themes that I forgot she even existed! But it's important to stay true to my roots, and that means making my inner-witch feel welcome to strut her scary stuff any day of the week. I'm wearing an asymmetrical skirt from the denim artisans at NATIVE HEART. They're the craftsmen who whipped up this genius pair of ombre shorts over the summer. I've got a lot of great new stuff to debut for y'all. Since I'm always looking to share my fave online shops, I gotta recommend their store: http://nativeheart.bigcartel.com/ Czech it out.

Scarf, skirt, stacked heels. Good example of an 'all-occasion outfit.' Some people fear that wearing heels strips an outfit of its casual element. I'm one of those people who wears them regardless of the event (unless it entails walking a great deal) so the shoes hardly ever define whether or not the outfit is 'too dressy.' It doesn't seem too eager to wear a pair of light-wash denim shorts with patent pumps and a leather jacket. In fact, it seems like good middle-ground. Better to be overdressed than noticeably informal.

CRASH N BURN

Though we've already sold the lovely camo military jacket featured here, I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce you all to an Etsy shop and blog my friends started! It's called "The Fabulous Stains" (yes, named after the 1981 punk film of a similar title) and it highlights nostalgia-oriented trends. Our clothes are either vintage, old-school, or just plain cute, from our closet to yours. Shop here y'all.

The outfit I'm wearing here isn't themed around any one trend - just a grungy, mall-gothy mash-up of camouflage, studs, and stockings. The top is from CRASH AND BURN apparel. Wish I had more good pictures of it. It's super loose and fits like a dress, but no worries - I was wearing shorts underneath.

DEER WITH IT

Christmas is over, but reindeer appreciation is a year round art form. I hate winter because the weather sucks (I don't see anything romantic about your nose going numb and not being able to form a coherent sentence because your teeth are loudly chattering against one another) BUT I do love that it's the season of sweaters. This little knit isn't simply cute because it's roomy in warm -- it's got a placid pink reindeer staring deep into your soul, smack in the center. I love me an animal that looks like it's reading my mind. Also, I haven't broken out the corduroy newsboy cap in a while! I have at least fifteen hats like this one, all of which I'd prefer to wear backwards.

Vince Camuto Brenda heels, meet my blog! Blog, meet my Vince Camuto Brenda heels!!!! "Aren't they just DIVINE?" - a salesperson, trying to convince you that you need to invest in a 3-pack of rhinestone encrusted lipstick carriers. Seriously though. They're dictionary definition divine. And with lace socks?? *Smacks face and goes weak at the knees*

COAT OF MANY COLORS

Before I left for Israel, I threw an outfit together that I thought would MAYBE be representative of Israeli style -- long skirts, floppy hats, gladiator sandals, and floor-length kimonos, all in a desert color palette. I was totally wrong, but the look was fun because it's referential to the story "Joseph and the Coat of Many Colors." I remember learning about it in Hebrew school. Probably watched an animated film about it. Definitely did a color-by-number. Torah/bible outfits are hugely underrated. Do not be surprised if within the next two weeks I come up with a "Prince of Egypt" ensemble.

Necklaces - Juicy Couture, Jewelmint http://www.jewelmint.com/
Sandals - O'Neill
Bag - Vintage

In Israel, girls have gorgeous wavy hair that's so long it reaches their bum. They usually wear it middle or side-parted and, like me, they love a coat of red lipstick! The most popular get-up was a pair of high-waisted leggings with a leotard, tank, or t-shirt tucked in. So simple and perfect... I can't wait to return to the city and go vintage shopping.

These are a few pics from my trip! I took hundreds but narrowed it down to a smooth 9. Traveled everywhere from the Golan Heights to Tel Aviv... stayed in 2 kibbutzim, 1 youth hostel, 1 bedouin tent, and 1 Jerusalem hotel. Desert, sea, and Masada in between!

SCHOOL GIRLY

I'm home from abroad! After 10 days in Israel, I'm back in the states with more stories than I have choker necklaces and detachable collars combined. For now, I'll tell you about this outfit. I drew from preppy uniforms for inspiration, but strayed from expectation by wearing a fedora hat and clog heels instead of a french braid and oxford lace-ups.

Fedora - Metro Park
Top - Oh My Frock, www.ohmyfrock.com
Belt- Natural Colour, www.natural-colour.com
Skirt - Abercrombie
Bag - Gucci
Shoes - Qupid, www.lulus.com

The top is from Oh My Frock, which is where my Old Hollywood white coat came from! It's pretty rare to find a shirt with sleeves as 'statement' as these. My wardrobe is ALWAYS hiring shoulder pads and sleeve adornments that hog the spotlight.

BLUE TUESDAY

Multicolor chain leggings aside, I'm all blue (and happy as can be!) New York City is a dream. We've been binge eating tubs of hummus and playing video games while badly belting out Lana Del Ray lyrics (but is there any other way BUT badly to belt out Lana Del Ray lyrics?)
