LE CIRQUE

Gather round ladies and gentlemen... the circus is IN TOWN! And by in town, I really mean "my bedroom". This look is inspired by centuries old ringmaster uniforms from the era of touring troupes, trapeze artists, juggling jesters, and cannon-balling-clowns. Ironically, I've never been to the circus, but I have seen my share of Cirque Du Soleil shows, if that counts. Personally, watching fifty muscular men in facepaint and grass skirts contort their bodies in mid-air while doing backflips from a 90 degree trampoline is infinitely better than watching ten clowns pop out of a tiny car. Or is it the other way around? I don't do any tricks, but I can wiggle my bow tie back and forth and peer at you oh-so-eerily from behind my oversized black lenses. If only I had an audience larger than my stuffed animal collection...

QUITE ALL WHITE

CHANGE OF PACE! I've gone from all black to all white in less than 48 hours!! This is either a cause for alarm OR celebration but I can't decide. All I know is that I feel so peaceful wearing a pure palette. It's far too warm for a jacket here in Vegas (shockingly enough I still don't own an obligatory white blazer), but that's okay because I settled for a creamy scarf instead. Can't get enough of that crochet crop-top!

INDUSTRIAL MALL WITCH

Back in my glory days of strutting about Hollywood, I wore this industrial 2004 Hot Topic goth emo witch get-up to the mall. I'm actually not sure what's the best way to go about describing it. All I know is that it entails a marriage of grid prints, chains, feathers, lace, and leather. Which all boils down to 'bad girl'. With the exception of pastels and dark velvets, I'm forever team metallic and monochrome!

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:
Hat- Secondhand, Urban Jungle

FUNERAL COQUETTE

This outfit is as traditional as it gets for a "day in the life" ensemble. Wore it to the local mall on Tuesday after an interview and didn't quite fit in among the cargo shorts and flip flops... c'est las vie. Later my friends and I ventured to our usual taco-and-live-music hot spot where we saw a Georgian deathcore band play a set. Having nothing positive to say about the music, we hoofed it to 7-11 and bought one of those microwaveable soups to eat instead. My outfit might have been better suited for a French maid's funeral parlor, but tacos and department stores certainly sufficed at the time. Despite the lace and fishnet and transparent robery, summer is my favorite season. Although I may never dress loosely enough to prove it.

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:
Fishnet hat- Novelty shop
Robe- Secondhand
Criss-cross top- AMERICAN GOLD, www.shopspanishmoss.com
Criss-cross tights- ROMWE, www.romwe.com
Shoes- Goodwill

GREAT SHOES. NO LACES. LOW HEEL.

The criss-cross detail in my top went perfectly with my little tights!! The tank (long enough to wear without pants, thankfully!) is from SPANISH MOSS VINTAGE as part of the American Gold line. Take a peek here! As for the tights- they're another Romwe favorite. I want these next...

NATIVE HEART

If you're hyperventilating over the greatness of these dip-dye gradient shorts with pyramid studs and white fringe, you're only having 50% of the reaction I had when I got them in the mail last week. I drew them from their package, held them up to the window, and as the light streamed through the perfectly perforated denim and illuminated the gold hardware, my heart leapt out of my chest. I weakly called out to my mother, stunned by their precious beauty. Together, we stared at them adoringly, then silently embraced. I've got four words for all of you... GET YOUR OWN PAIR.

I'd also like to acknowledge the debut of my new sheer blouse with braided details on each side! The perfect long-sleeve shirt for a sophisticated season. And I can pair it with anything- rock n' roll leather pants or a baby blue petticoat skirt. It's not a good a purchase unless the potential is endless, and lemme tell ya, the potential is endless. Find your fit at OBSERVE THE FOUND!

These babies are next on my wishlist... AMERICANA SUMMER 2011.
