School Days

Having to wake up every morning between 6 and 7 AM for class really gives your creative vision a beating. You start thinking in terms of "what's the easiest thing I can possibly put on?" just so you can sleep in for another 5 minutes. Outfits that require a lot of accessorizing aren't the best for days when you might miss the bus because you didn't budget your time wisely... which for me happens WAY more often than not. So I often end up wearing looks like this one. Nothing experimental or over-accessorized, just classic and simple and easy to throw together. When you're running out of time, wear something tried and true. For me, twee is a theme I always feel confident falling back on.

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:
Cap - Had it for years, YEARS I tell ya
Cardigan - Secondhand
Mauve petal collar shirt - HAH! It's actually a dress tucked INTO a skirt... wait till you see it worn solo. You'll love it even more than you surely already do. Because you do love it. Right? Omg RIGHT?????? You better love it or I'll cry a little bit and tweet vague, cryptic messages about how nobody cares about me anymore and I'm so bitter and sick of it all. Jk you guys know I'm a lifer! I don't believe in sadness. YES STYLE, www.yesstyle.com
Skirt - ZARA
Oxford lace ups - YES STYLE, www.yesstyle.com

I've never owned a mauve article of clothing before. Or a pair of black and white oxfords. I didn't really get into the oxford game until recently. I've always shied away from them for fear of seeming typical, but I think I'm getting the hang of wearing extremely trendy things in a way that isn't particularly trendy. Example: I did a photoshoot last night with a pair of Blackmilk galaxy print leggings. Space print is the single most trendy thing I can think of, so it was tough dragging the leggings away from the 'outfit context' people expect and WANT to see them in. I'm not into pandering to the expectations of the fashion community (sorry!) so I made the look completely glam 80's, with metallic and rhinestones galore. A solid departure from all the Jeffrey Campbell and studs and spikes and 90s influences we usually associate with galaxy print. I'm not really rebelling against any trend in my oxfords, but I like that instead of trying to make them modern, I kept with the vintage inspired theme to do them justice.

Everything is infinite,

Bebe Zeva

You're very lucky to always have warm weather, In england it's harder to pick an outfit in the winter and I always end up missing my bus.

  20. One thing I really like about that dress is that the collar is so damn big and exaggerated. Nice touch. Really does add to that vintage-cutsey factor.

Also, I just admire that you would touch on a subject like wearing tried and true outfits that help you budget your time. Like, that's REALLY helpful for me as i always find myself rushing to get ready for things. It's great to just fall back on clothes you already know will work.

Funny, I actually did have a class at 7 in the morning! Thank goodness that was only last semester...
