CA$H MONEYYYY

While in LA last week, I met up with my buddy Mark DA COBRASNAKE to shoot some photos for his online vintage shop! We tacked up a massive money sign wall treatment to add a little American Dream to the photoshoot's otherwise Hindu-cyberpunk theme. Hope you LOOOOVE the finished product as much as I do... what a privilege it was to be in the presence of such divine inflatable backpacks! Perhaps this blingy backdrop will inspire you to do some spending? B-)

I will be heading back to LA tomorrow morning and staying for the weekend! Looking forward to more photoshoots and festivities. MOST IMPORTANTLY, I will be performing a piece I published to Thought Catalog at the Last Bookstore in downtown Los Angeles tomorrow as part of the "Online Goes Offline" alt lit event! You're ALL invited, and since it's free, there's no excuse NOT to be there. Potential after party. Starts at 8 PM!

  14. I don't approve of the Hindi-cyberpunk theme since that is appropriative of another culture, plus Hindu is not your religion, Bebe. Even if it was, this is disrespectful of it. You have fantastic style, but I don't approve of this style of shoot.

  23. You can't really say that these outfits have a "Hindu" theme just because you're wearing a bindi. Bindis have, in the past, symbolized marriage but now, they are simply fashion and have nothing to do with the Hindu religion. Personally, I'm not Hindu but boxing up the entire eastern culture into one term can seem close minded and offensive and I know you're totally against that.

    1. Similarly, "cyberpunk" can't be represented solely by a spiky choker. Since the bindi, choker, and beanie were the only constants throughout this photoshoot, (the actual garments/sunglasses were the only pieces I changed in and out of) I chose to establish them as markers of the photoshoot's vague theme and thus described it as "Hindu-cyberpunk." I completely agree about bindis largely being unrelated to religion since they're pervasive in Eastern fashion (independently of spiritual connotation) but have actually chosen not to wear any real 'bindis' in case a practicing Hindu takes offense. What I wear between my eyes are rhinestones from Party City.

  28. Hinduism is a religion, not a fashion style. Just because calling things Hindu and and wearing a bindi is not racist and appropriative to you, doesn't mean it is to people of color. As a white person, it is NOT your place to decide what is racist and what isn't.
