FLORAL LAGERFELD

While driving through Hollywood last week, I saw a massive poster of Ashton Kutcher posing as Karl Lagerfeld for the new Pop Chips ad campaign. Besides being irresistibly clever, the billboard was sartorially inspiring – costume party or not, dressing up as Karl Lagerfeld looks freakin’ cool. I didn’t want to completely style myself in Karl’s signatures, so I drew from his black and white palette and created a look with floral leggings instead. The blazer, glasses, and gaudy necklaces are classic Lagerfeld, so an unexpected garment like stretch pants compliments the look by challenging my theme entirely.

Hat – Secondhand
Sunglasses – The Cobrashop
Blazer – Armani
Blouse – YES STYLE
Cross necklace – THIS IS TRANSITION
Leggings – Lola Blanc’s frock swap
Booties – NATURAL COLOUR

For those who wonder what a frock swap is, don’t worry, I did too when I was initially invited to one at my friend Lola’s house! A frock swap is a free garment exchange in which friends bring all of their old and unwanted clothes to somebody’s living room, dump them on the floor, and let each other sort through them,  choosing whatever pieces they’d like to add to their wardrobe. All the while eating snacks and playing dress up. Lola Blanc is the Hollywood QUEEN of clothing swaps, and I was legit privileged to have attended her most recent event. These adorable leggings (which were once her mom’s!) and a couple jackets and dresses are what I left with. For free! See guys?? You can be a Marxist and still look good!

Anyway, I would really like to see my friend Spencer’s interpretation of Chanel’s head honcho since he dresses exclusively in personas. Like, he doesn’t have a style. He has characters. Once you start attributing idiosyncrasies to your outfit, you  have exalted yourself to the major leagues of innovation in fashion. Bravo, Spencer. Or Yolo Brad. Or Snapback Luke. Or Raging Ken. Depends on what you’re wearing while reading this.

Everything is infinite,
