DON'T FLATTER YOURSELF

Hi, did I ask for your opinion? No? Then why are you condescending to me with your unsolicited advice? Do you honestly believe that I am incapable of making my own decisions? If so, please kindly turn around kiss my ass to compensate for your disrespect, because the insinuation that I need your moral direction, as if my own won't suffice, is capital "D" Disrespectful. By the way, my aesthetic discretion -- you know, the sartorial and cosmetic choices I make for myself, for my own body, to represent myself the way my BRAIN sees fit -- is not a THREAT TO YOUR PEACE OF MIND. If I wanna draw my eyebrows on HUGE, that is my prerogative  And it is immune from your interference. No matter how many times you try to shame me with your biased rhetoric (oh you know, appeals to the Western beauty standard... as if I give a shit about what society has decided is most beautiful, as if I give a shit that constructed manifests of 'natural beauty' are valued higher than 'outrageous' [innocuous] cosmetic displays) I will *not* surrender to the idea that I should change MY makeup routine to suit YOUR cowardly preferences. The preferences that were decided for you by the media. Some of you believe that I wear makeup to seem more attractive to other people -- that's not the case. I wear makeup to exercise agency over my FACE, which I did not choose. A series of DNA and a punnet square decided my face for me, and if that's the first thing you're going to look at when you see me, I should so hope that you are actually seeing some representation of my *personhood*, not my GENE POOL. Swiping two bold brunette stripes over where my natural eyebrows would otherwise be is a rather humble exercise of my ENTITLEMENT TO CHOOSE. Don't like it? Don't look.

Think.
For.
Yourself.

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:
Bowler cap - ROMWE
Cage collar - ROMWE
Plaid pleat skirt - 9 Crow Street
Sequin-embossed high tops - BURNETIE

On a much more positive note, I'm sporting a pair of Burnetie high-tops today! While reading the company's bio, I was stoked to found that Burnetie totes 'corporate responsibility' as a priority in their manufacturing process. And they care enough about reducing waste and protecting the environment to create sneakers out of vulcanized rubber. Gives me hope in the world. Heh. Hope that inspires anyone who's been feeling disillusioned by business lately... there are kindred souls in the industry after all. ;)

Speaking of kindred souls... HELLOOOO PETALS AND PEACOCKS. Y'all kind of really freakin' rule. "BONE ME" t-shirt? Are you for real? Waving BYE to all my other lame tank tops that think they can compete with this one. Stay clever. For everyone else: let's all make an honest effort to keep up with their wit. PEEP DA SITE

Everything is infinite,

Bebe Zeva

  1. I love your attitude and how you won't change yourself for anything. I praise you. Forever one of my idol.

  2. You go girl! You're so right. Nobody should come here and tell you how you should dress or what make-up you should put on your face. That's your decision to make and the most important thing is that you like yourself; don't ever let anyone convince you that your primary goal should be to aesthetically please others instead. That's so amazing of you to spread body-positivity in your blog.
And aside from all this, I love this punkish outfit <3

  3. Preach! You are totally right and I makes me soo happy to see you post something like this :) Your style is incredible and whats best is that you dress for you! not anybody else. This is such a great look, it reminds me of 90's school girl which is totally bad ass :)

There is nothing sexier than someone who expresses themselves through creativity, whether it be through makeup or dressing in clothing. It is all art in my eyes and you do it all so well! This look is amazing by the way! Have a lovely day! xx Pip

  12. You, my dear, are fantastic.

Your makeup choices may not be my cup of tea, but I fully respect your choice to make them and your right to express yourself in the way that feels right.

Ignore the haters, dear, they're just pathetic scraps of meat anyways....

  15. Looove this outfit i really lovve that top and the skirt/kilt! agree with everything you said and the point about the media? I cant believe that some people really dont know anything beyond what they have seen through the media or have been taught. People dont think for themselves anymore they think what they think they need too, and copy whats being shoved in their faces. As they are too stupid to realise the bigger picture and make their own decisions.

  19. Pa ha ha ha, people can be ridiculous- why does anyone think it's their business what you do with your own face? Please keep up the eloquent bile-spouting, making my lunch breaks hilarious.

  23. I was clapping my hands with excitement! I love your attitude. you are an inspiration for those who do not want to be "normal". I struggle with the "norm" everyday. I love spikes, skulls, and makeup, but "society" does not deem it normal. so what I love to use my eyeshadow as an artform. I am an artist! my eye lids are my canvas and eyeshadow is my medium. I paint fantasy art as well, I am a poet, I listen to Euro metal, though I do not have to look like it all the time. I am who I am and if people do not like it oh well. what is wrong with being a mother of two, wife to a wonderful husband and I do not look like your "typical wife of America" I am not Susie homemaker! I am an IMPERFECT WOMAN. I want to thank you for being who you are! you are an inspiration and I think you are beautiful...eye brows and all!

  24. OMG I didn't thought people were coming here to talk about that... I can't stand people acting like them, I literally run away from them and I can't stand they come here to talk about their standards again!... I totally agree with what you say and I support you. Because of these people I'm not dressing up and stuff the same way at school (young and immature people...) and outside because I'm just tired of explaining them what you just said. Keep going, I think you are really good-looking, and I love your outfits. And I gotta say... Being different feels so good.
