ROSY ROMANTIQUE

While I do exercise the tendency to dress in dark and dreary draperies, I'm tickled pink by all the pastels, ruffles, and lace bits in my wardrobe! It plays up my penchant for babydoll garments without being too uncharacteristic of myself. Yes, I'd rock a spike-and-chain metal dog collar any day of the week, but that doesn't mean I don't give equal opportunity to floral embroidery and scalloped layer-cake miniskirts! This one's for all you hopeless romantics.

Let's all conceptually hold hands and jump up and down in a circular formation because we're so excited that I officially own a PASTEL PINK DETACHABLE COLLAR!!!!!!!!!!!! WITH LACE DETAIL!!!!!!!! Pleases me to say there's HUNDREDS more to go around on my new favorite online store Romwe (I talk about it incessantly on formspring, please forgive me!)

STREET SNUPPED

Can you hear me over the loudness of my color-crazy laptop bag???? I just had it custom made by SNUPPED and paired it with a few vibrant garments to bring out the zany colors present in the print! The title of this design is "Harajuku Street", so I hoped to somewhat capture the candid Japanese theme. Granted, I'm not wearing a massive bow in my hair, platform creepers, and a pastel tutu, but the essence of a color-blocked lolita should surely suffice.

Laptop Case- Snupped, http://tinyurl.com/6gkyvad

And before I forget (as if I could forget), allow me to verbally drool all over these adorable little floral print wedge babies!! They're by my all-time favorite shoe company, Irregular Choice, and feature an oriental carving in the heel. The creamy color scheme couldn't be any better suited for my wardrobe.

Everlasting thanks to SNUPPED and IRREGULAR CHOICE for making this outfit possible!

† OMENS AND AMENS †

Monday night I decked myself out in the latest and greatest additions to my wardrobe- a floor-sweeping black dress, super massive circle sunglasses, and cross & skull necklaces by AMEN. All elements of my outfit coalesced to form a look somewhat reminiscent of 'Gaga goes Givenchy goth'. It's been raining sporadically here in Vegas for the past few days, so a head-to-toe black get-up was perfectly fitting. Weather often has the most profound influence on wardrobe choices. Thank you, thunder, for inspiring me in particular!

Knitted hat- Secondhand
Sunglasses- The Cobrashop, www.shop.thecobrasnake.com
Dress- Black Label, AKIRA, www.shopakira.com
Necklaces- AMEN, www.thisistransition.com
Bracelets- Jessica Simpson, Nine West
Clogs- Candies

This black dress from AKIRA proves that 'big black dress' may reign victorious over LBD. I'd rather wear a floor-length maxi to a fancy dinner than a cropped microdress! The circular slits at the side make up for any ounce of sexy that the draping bottom-half takes away. I've never felt more confident about my silhouette and emphatically recommend this style to anyone looking for a ground-grazing gown!

As for my jewelry- some of it's vintage, but all the gaudy goth pieces are from an incredible new brand known as "AMEN" sold by This Is Transition. I turned this bracelet into a choker necklace by knotting a piece of white string to each clasp and tying it behind my neck! Seemed like a practical solution to a bracelet slightly too large for my little wrists. No matter the manner in which the jewelry is worn, its perfectly industrial aesthetic is still evident.

"NIGHT BY NIGHT"

"SPARTANIC"

There are plenty of other crosses, skulls, rocks, and eiffel towers to go around on the site! Check it out- www.thisistransition.com

P.S. I've been featured in the NEW YORK TIMES STYLE SECTION!!!!!! I can hardly contain my excitement!! The article details a visit I took to NYC in March, where I dined with a crew of authors, poets, and journalists at The Lodge in Brooklyn. The evolution of my style throughout high school in suburban Las Vegas is even humorously recounted... enjoy!! http://nyti.ms/qeHkkR

✰ AMERICANA ✰

Happy July 4th, everybody!!!! If you're not American- just pretend I wore these stars and stripes because I randomly felt like it (wouldn't I?). The flag on my chest was pinned to a knit red, white, and blue sweater, which I mostly wear in nautical ensembles. As for the velvet bow on my shorts, I picked it up at Walgreens after being nearly paralyzed by a phantasmagoria of potential outfits when I merely gazed in its direction. What is it about red, white, and blue that's so inexplicably thrilling? Anyway, DOG BLESS AMERICA AND STAY INFINITE THIS EVENING!

KOOL THING

Today I'm countering the cutesy characteristics of my last outfit with gritty grunge and blues and blacks. I stole my sister's boyfriend's neatly folded flannel button-down out of the laundry room. He undoubtedly wouldn't approve of my glorification of the garment in this fashion-oriented context due to the 'corrupt and capitalist nature of the industry'. Zach, if you're reading this right now, I'm sorry!! I couldn't help it!! The plaid is such a pretty shade of blue and it matches my new tinted John Lennon glasses deliciously well. And if it's any consolation, I had to steal my sister's boyfriend's something because I'm wearing Sonic Youth's "Goo" album cover on my t-shirt!
