RHINESTONE COWGIRL

When I was a kid, my mom arranged A LOT of road trips for our tiny family. We traveled all along the east coast, through New England, and once from Massachusetts to Missouri, all before I was I was even 12 years old! Seven years and a thousand roadside gas stations later, I still remember my mom's favorite road trip soundtrack: Nancy Sinatra, golden oldies, and 70s hits of every genre there was. I named this outfit after one of the tracks that I especially got a kick out of as a 10 year old: Glen Campbell's "Rhinestone Cowboy." It's perfectly fitting because my knee-high boots - a fine pair for plowing through ghost town tumbleweeds with a reckless abandon I'll nickname Jack Daniels - feature a glamorous sprinkle of twinkling rhinestones on the back of their square heel! Who else could have come up with a concept as a sassy as this one but Naughty Monkey? Check out their selection right here for more spunk and sparkle.

Hat - Zara
Sunglasses - 80s Purple
Western necklace - VANESSA MOONEY
Nordic print cardigan - PACSUN
"Evelyn" Lace dress - GINA MARIE VINTAGE
Belt - Vintage
"Mix Master" Boots - NAUGHTY MONKEY

Boots aside, this outfit features two other great new additions to my winter wardrobe: a lace dress with dramatic bell sleeves (yep, sorry bare knees!), and a nordic print cardigan from PacSun! I love how both are about the same length and end mid-thigh to create a casual silhouette with a (hidden) fitted waist. Though technically short, this dress is NOT 'short' of detail - the intricate lace fabric is signature to Gina Marie's entire vintage collection. Check out her shop on BigCartel for more one of a kind pieces to inspire your desert elegance.

P.S. Thanks, PacSun, for another incredible autumn staple. I'll wear it rain or shine!

DECO BERRY

I've had this fuchsia and grape bodycon dress FOREVER and couldn't for the life of me figure out how to wear it without feeling, well, appropriately "body con." And by con I don't mean contour - I mean conscious. I rarely like to think about my curves when rockin' a look because my skeleton, and the pounds of flesh, muscle, and cartilage layered over it, has little if nothing to do with my wardrobe selections. So I slipped into this high-waist leatherette skirt and turned the bandage dress into a bandeau top! It's bright enough with its berry hued deco stripes to make a statement without serving as my entire outfit's foundation. The designers of this dress/top reign from Bqueen, an online retailer that specializes in sexy little numbers at appropriate prices. Turning this hot fuchsia mini into a tank shows how creative you can get with your wardrobe. Think outside the box (or silhouette) and layer your pieces over and under basics for a dynamic concept like this one. I tied in a magenta beanie and socks to pull everything together!

Bandeau top/strapless dress - BQUEEN

Yes, I'm still in the beanie/bindi combo mood. I want to say that it takes me a while to get tired of trends, but that's miserably untrue. I'm first to hate fads oversaturated by fashion bloggers. This aesthetic is simply a rare exception. Forgive me! It's good for your karma!

GARDEN GIRL

This look is all about the dress! I paired it with those beloved 70s staples you've seen me sport a million billion times: floppy hat, circle sunnies, platform sandals. The gown, a floral number that attracts the gaze of garden enthusiasts all around, features an elaborate flower print and crochet lace details. It's a gift from Asian iCandy and is inspired by Mongolian folk style. It sincerely doesn't get more free-spirited than this - and you can see it in how beautifully the skirt flies through the air while you twirl. *Curtsies and blows you a kiss*

Hope you guys check out the rest of Asian iCandy's boho selection! Or you can peep some of their garments that I've styled in the past: Maxi Mouse (transparent polka dot dress) and Rocoquette (baroque print hot shorts).

BAD TO THE BOW

Bows in my hair, under my jacket, all over my accordion pleat skirt. I'm most certainly bow to the bone. Toss a couple studs and some platform stompers into the mix, boom, I'm lookin pretty bad to boot. Bad in a... good way? I definitely feel like a smitten schoolgirl trying to impress the likes of Joey Ramone and Johnny Thunders. Band dudes PUH-LEASE pay attention to me! I didn't spend fifteen minutes putting my hair up all cute for nothin'.

Me and my sister really got a kick out of having to hop a small fence to take these pics by the Fontainebleu abandoned construction site. There's a whole underworld beneath the unfinished architecture... wish I could explore it but that'd entail tricking a security guard into letting me do a photoshoot among the piles of bricks and heavy machinery. And in this outfit? I look like I'm just begging for trouble. In my dreams.

PEACHY KEEN

Surprise! I haven't worn peach since the last time I wore peach! So I'm doubling up... compensating for its absence. You know. Everything just meshed (but sadly not mesh) so well together: the peachy pink sunglasses, the floral print top, the paperbag culotte shorts, the creamy rockstud bag. It's a look that meets all the requirements of one very extreme end of my style spectrum, that being EXTREMELY uptown. No ripped jeans and platform boots today. Instead, bare legs and iridescent pumps.

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:

Knit floppy hat - Vintage
Sunglasses - 80s Purple
Blouse - ROMWE
Culotte shorts - YES STYLE
Rockstud bag - Valentino
Pumps - Ralph Lauren

Since peach garments have pretty much monopolized my closet, I'll have to stock up on more Cosmopop lipstick from Lime Crime to match my fall/winter look! Normally I get crazy with the Countessa Fluorescent. It's still my favorite color, but shades of orange are much more inspiring to me these days. Peace n love n peach.

I'LL TRY ANYTHING ONCE

American Eagle's iconic motto "live your life" reminded me of another motto The Strokes introduced me to back in the days of my adolescent wonder years. "I'll try anything once" is a fitting title for a YOLO outfit because the underlying sartorial theme of it all is calculated carelessness. I'm in my spankin' new hidden wedges and ready to walk whatever distance it takes to get to the coolest destination. My baseball tee is classic and comfortable, an American Eagle staple style. It pairs well with athletic shorts fastened from faux-leather and a snapback that affords the look a throwback nonchalance signature to grunge icons from an era that defined our youth. I tossed my plaid robe over the outfit to tie in the gray tones. I may not care about consequences, but I do value a bit of cohesiveness in my color scheme... all gray, all day. CHILLNESS. TRY IT. ONCE.

I put together this outfit for the Lookbook x AMERICAN EAGLE collab. Before selecting my garments from the online inventory, I watched a few of the vids about the models' lifestyle brands. I was inspired by their fearlessness and fervor. Their thirst for adventure was only matched by their indifference to the risk of losing it all. I tried to channel that BRING IT ON vibe with mellow tones, a sporty silhouette, and a diet coke on the go. Life's too short to dwell on the details. Thanks a mill, Lookbook, for offering me another opportunity to collab with a timeless brand. LIVE YA LIFE!

P.S. ROMWE is launching their official BLACK FRIDAY sale today! 70% off over 3,000 items from now until November 26th. Click the banner below and join me for a week of shopping sales in the spirit of the season! :)
