Making cosmic waves again in galaxy print... this time around I've got a jacket to match my leggings! I can't get enough of the matching set trend. When a top and bottom complement each other not just visually but thematically, the look immediately elevates from smart to genius. Not that I think of myself as a sartorial genius or anything... but the swirling galactic prints on my top and bottom are lookin' pretty brilliant. Especially once highlighted and accessorized by a bold cap in royal purple and subtle metallic neck cuff. The patterns are futuristic and other-worldly... extraterrestrial... heavenly in their cosmic way. But the outfit is fundamentally inspired by a familiar urban concept. Snapback, t-shirt and hoodie, leggings, sneaker wedges.

This top is the softest in my wardrobe! And graphically the coolest, too... who could resist a pastel wave raglan tee?

So... I don't ALWAYS have time to upload photos of my #OOTD. But I'd like to believe that I have at least a couple minutes to spare when it comes to sharing my style inspiration! Lately I've been feeling super energized by the sporty streetwear bloggers have been rocking on Lookbook, so I compiled a list of my favorite outfits! These are only a handful from the past couple weeks, but I'll definitely be uploading more as I see them. Keep your eyes peeled for some obvious trends: overalls/dungarees, leather sweats, monochrome minimalism, jersey, stilettos, and layers around the waist. FADE TO WILD

All I need in this world is a snapback and free wi-fi. Been spending most of my days at home but every once in a while there's opportunity for adventure... that's when I break out the camo crop top and fill my backpack with cameras and a phone charger. I live in such an insane city. Would be a waste to keep to myself instead of marinating in the estranged neon aura, melodic casino rhythm and almost supernatural fluorescence...

This February, Kreepsville 666 was kind enough to add this eyeball themed snapback to my cap collection! The team identifies as a source of "scare wear" where you can "stalk in style" -- fitting words for a brand that sells apparel decorated in skeleton bones, spiderwebs, and skulls. You might also know them for their famous neon eyeball bag (Charlotte Free carries one in green). I decided to pair my cap with a perforated black dress from 2020AVE. Check out their site and you'll notice a more sophisticated departure from Kreepsville's horror punk aesthetic. Sleek lines, soft palettes, elegant silhouettes... I gotta get my hands on a pair of these chiffon harem pants! And keep your eyes peeled for a later look that features 2020AVE's baroque leggings. Eyeballs are apparently the motif du jour!

When I'm not baring knees in an optimistic spring daze... I'm probably wearing a pair of leather leggings or chiffon pants with my Sheinside quilted jacket. It's a piece of classic outerwear that's more functional than it is fashionable, but I think that's what ultimately makes it so chic. Function is en vogue this year. More perforations, mesh insets, and quilted panels please!!

Believe it or not, I used to be a bodycon dress kinda girl. I loved a snug fit, a silhouette that accentuated my shape - probably because I didn't have one. Now I'm more full-bodied, and while a bodycon dress might especially flatter some of my qualities, I'm not used to my curves and have been opting for amorphous shapes and boxy cuts. Guess it stands true that your style changes as you do, physically. I've always advised people to stay true to "their look" no matter their size or shape, but I understand now that it's hard to look the same when you feel different. The last thing I ever want to do is hide, so even if I'm in a transitional phase where I'm unsure about what silhouettes I fancy, I always want to step out with a bang. For me, thinking outside the box means wearing one.

SHORT STOP

I don't remember exactly when I started noticing an athletic trend in high fashion, and I'm not even sure that at first I was immediately charmed. All I know is that now I'm enamored with all of its manifests - oversize jerseys, perforated material, running shoes and sweat pants, baseball caps, letterman jackets... the list is as endless as sports apparel's fashion potential. For this look, I paired an oversize Romwe jersey-inspired scoop neck sweater with metallic short-shorts (similar to the ones you'd wear working out or riding a bike) and my Persunmall pumps. I generally find that outfits flaunting a clever juxtaposition of styles - in this case, a functional aesthetic commonly associated with masculine qualities x high fashion, feminine couture motifs - are the most inspiring and innovative. I love that wearing shapeless jerseys and sexy stilettos is en vogue. Who said sportswear is just for dudes? Ladies be lookin' good!

I know, same bag and shoes as yesterday, but maybe my repetition serves as a testament to my word: when I say something's a staple piece, it's a staple piece! I sincerely use my leather clutch from Doctor Couture everyday... even when I'm not leaving the house, I'll usually have a reason to dig around its old-receipt-and-spare-change laden depths. Hm. You guys would probably get a kick out of seeing all the junk I carry with me in my bag on the daily... maybe I'll do a "what's inside my purse" installment as an incentive to clean my shit. ;)

ATOMIC

Me and the all-black look are on a roll here. It's my third day in dark duds, this time with a more avant garde silhouette instead of classic Parisian curves or trendy peplum flares. I paired an amorphous cowl-necked dress from Modekungen with the best mesh harem pants I've ever owned (sorry, chiffon capris - I love you too, but you've got competition). Since my pants seem shrouded in a shapeless gossamer aura, I decided to cinch the waist around my top to add some drama and dimension. I know people make fun of those words for being so loosely used in fashion dialogue, but I defend them sincerely: who will pay attention to a look that does not call attention to itself with depth and suspense? And how can one ever command a presence without powerful, theatrical shapes? Hate to sound too self-assured, but I think this look really does execute all of my aesthetic aims. Tension.
