MY BOOKSTORE BEST

I'm first to admit that Vegas isn't a mecca for the fashion community. Though the Strip boasts a slew of designer retailers, there's not much street style going up and down the boulevard. Fortunately, a recent architectural development salvaged some of Vegas' fashion credibility -- City Center. Crystals, its resident shopping district, hosts some of the best couture in the city, including some of my personal favorites like Lanvin, Miu Miu, and Yves Saint Laurent. While window shopping a few weekends ago, I discovered that Crystals is home to more than quilted handbags and gauzy maxi gowns... it's also home to a world-famous bookstore that specializes in fashion texts! Yes, I'm talking about Assouline. Very fortunately I was already dressed in my bookstore best when I popped in. The intellectual atmosphere in Assouline completely affirmed my conviction that fashion is a science, not a vapid hobby. If I ever move into a mansion with an at-home mahogany library, Assouline is EXACTLY what it's going to look like.

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:
Corduroy cap - Practically vintage
Necklaces - THIS IS TRANSITION, www.thisistransition.com
Blazer - Burberry
Blouse - Observe the Found, www.observethefound.com
Plaid skirt - YES STYLE, www.yesstyle.com
Loafers - Etienne Aigner

I think this book about "Fashion Dogs" was made specifically for Jane from Sea of Shoes...

I'm not a fan of Barbie, but I admit that I learned a lot about the evolution of pop culture by flipping through this master collection.

Hope you enjoyed my mini-tour!!

  3. Your skirt is gorgeous! I've recently started to develop an adoration for tartan after years of despising it thanks to my school's uniform. I'm lusting after UNIF's Nevermind maxi skirt xxx

  14. From your old post:

"No matter how hard I try, I just can't get out of this preppy, twee schoolgirl phase. Trust me, I want to go back to my days of dripping in gold and silver crosses."

...You see! You've be able to master a dark prep combination! Its schoolgirl-ish but with hints of goth!
