After a final long day at the MAGIC tradeshow last week, I settled into a cropped sweater and pair of perforated shorts for a comfortable, late afternoon look. The occasion was shopping and the company was ideal: fellow fashion bloggers Bethany Struble, Peter Adrian, Olivia Lopez, and Rachel Schwartzmann. We cruised through Zara and Topshop at the Fashion Show Mall, seeking staples and statements for NYFW. I sadly won't be attending, but anticipate a deluge of runway-related instagram photos to mobilize my vicarious fashion week experience. Find a penthouse and have a glass of champagne in it for me!

So grateful to have these unfailingly functional cowboy booties in my life! I wouldn't expect a western-inspired shoe to work so well with a pair of shorts as athletic as these from Lucca Couture. Guess the marriage of black and gold accessories really tied the theme together -- desert boheme meets sport luxury. Thanks Wanted for a spankin' new pair of boots to keep me blazing trails this fall.

THE MOD LIFE
August is nearly over and I will NEVER get over it. It's like summer just broke up with me after three romantic months of skinny dipping in the sweet moonlight and kissing on a hammock somewhere in the Bahamas. What did I do to deserve getting dumped by my fave season EVER? Trying to alleviate the pain of heartbreak by getting in the fall groove, but we all know Autumn is such a rebound. Ugh. I felt pretty comfortable in this monochrome get-up nonetheless! It was perfect for a transitional summer-fall evening: bold top, cotton skirt, simple flats, statement accessories. Love all the space between my skirt's cropped hemline and leopard loafers. Showin' off them legs before it's too late! And by too late I mean too cold... I die thinking about it.

Sunglasses - ROMWE
Mod top - YES.I
Necklace - Chanel
Flower bag - Valentino
Skirt - American Apparel
Leopard flats - PINK & PEPPER
This look was inspired by the mod 60s. High fashion factory girls, city livin', Polaroids, teased hair, art, Camel smokes. Warhol muses. Film. The good shit. I figured a pair of black and white polka dot flats would be best accented by a garment that challenged their roundness. Nothing better suited for the job than a half and half shirt. Reminds me of those black and white cookies they serve at delis in New York. Tres appropriate for an outfit with a retro downtown feel. CUE THE PETULA CLARK, PLEASE. You can join the "I know how to wear flats without looking lazy" club by treating yourself to a pair like mine from Pink and Pepper! The Briana ballet flat in Houndstooth would have also complimented a mod theme like this one. Muah!

ROCKSTAR LOUNGE
This is my attempt at the whole "rockstar's day off" aesthetic. Ripped jeans, metallic sweater, silver slippers. I'm glam without all the chains and layers. I could still bust it out on the electric guitar, but, ya know. I'd rather be drinking a cup of joe backstage. Checking my Twitter feed. Refreshing Instagram - which I am ADDICTED to, by the way. Please follow me and validate my personal lifestream with your likes and comments: @bebezeva (tongue wearing a hole in my cheek as I type this). Anyway, yeah. Rockstar life, devil's fingers, chill day at the recording studio. Whatever.

I can already feel the heat of you guys tripping balls over this insane snapback. I can probably kill a dude with one headbutt. If only more weapons were this sparkly and fashionable. Nothing chic about an AK-47, am I right? *Eyelids droop so low they dribble into a fleshy pile on the floor, similar to saltwater taffy in a candy factory* Where was I... OH. Fashionable sparkly things. Like my shoes! Thank you, Pink and Pepper, for another stroke of glittering genius. Finally I can turn heads in loungewear. I was getting a bit bored with bunny slippers. These slip-ons are perfect for around the house, the office, your college campus, a ZZ Top tribute concert at a moonshine bar somewhere in rural West Virginia, wherever. If you're feelin' me, PROVE IT. Let's be loafer twins. Get a pair of sequined slippers on Bonton here. My ripped jeans are the latest addition to my list of must-haves. Autumn's almost here, and as soon as the weather dips and pants enter the equation again, y'all are gonna need a means to maintain your rebellious image without compromising warmth. Can we get a big ol' round of applause for JEANS WITH AN ATTITUDE. Actually sounds like a band, wow. Not a very good one, but. Hey. This whole improv thing might actually work out for me after all. Jk kill me. Back to the point -- BUY THESE JEANS ON STORETS, IT'S A COOL SITE, AWESOME FREAKIN' CLOTHES FOR SALE (ESPECIALLY THIS RAINBOW GRADIENT DRESS). Rock on, y'all.

BORN IN THE U.S.A.
You should think ONE thing and one thing only when you see me wearing this outfit: duh. Of course I would own American Flag print leggings. In fact, I've owned them for months and have held them hostage from blog debut. Because I'm a perfectionist, and I didn't want to feature them in a post until I felt I'd prepared the perrrrfect outfit to do them justice. Which means the pressure is REALLY on with this look. Not sure if it's perfect enough for your standards, but it meets all of mine. Flag emblazoned and walking tall in my leather boots, well-adorned with silver studded cuffs and finger armor, hair held in place by a patriotic bandana a la 99 cent store. What's up with people saying "a la" out of context? I see it all the time and look at how horribly it's rubbed off on me: a la means 'on top of,' not 'via' or 'from' or 'by way of.' Anyway. AMERICAN WOMAN, STAY AWAY FROM ME / AMERICAN WOMAN, MAMA LET ME BE / DON'T COME HANGIN ROUND MY DOOR, I DON'T WANNA SEE YOUR FACE NO MORE (too bad Lenny, you're about to see a lotta face... you know you like it!!)
FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:
Bandana - 99 Cent Store
Studded collar - Romwe
Harley Davidson tee - CHOIES
Leggings - PINGPING AND RABBIT
Studded boots - Pink & Pepper
I've made it really obvious by now that I DESERVE a motorcycle. Just patiently waiting for Harley Davidson to send me an email saying they've finally decided to sponsor me and are having a hog delivered to my doorstep tomorrow morning, provided that I send them my mailing address and color preferences for the paint job and leather interior. AN AMERICAN GURL CAN DREAM. Or not. Reality has actually been pretty good to me lately... ever since these studded boots from Pink & Pepper entered my life. If "being bad ass" was a competitive sport, my shoes would obviously take the gold medal. Or maybe silver. To match the studs. Get yo self a pair on Bonton here!

LE BOYFRIEND
Who needs a real boyfriend when you can play pretend with a pair of baggy jeans? Nope, I didn't sleep over at my main squeeze's house last night or steal his pants in the morning. I just got me a pair of look-a-likes and spared myself the petty troubles of a commitment: obligatory phone calls, awkward dinner silences, PDA. The only relationship I'll ever embrace, arms wide open, is the one I have with my wardrobe. I mean, why not date your clothes?? They see you naked (feel you naked,) make you feel pretty, and never give you any sass when you tell them that they're a little out of season and you need space. So drama-free. Jealous, boys?

Boots - Pink & Pepper
This look is inspired by modern French leisure: a beret style cap, a red lip, a cropped dinner jacket, and loose jeans for lounging. It's taken me SO LONG to get my hands on a pair of pants like these! I figured I'd regret ordering them online since I couldn't try them on first, but they proved to be worth the risk! I love how they hang on my hips and thighs. Not TOO loose, but not so snugly that they lose their boyfriend appeal. The boots are from Pink & Pepper and are perfect for a shopping day followed by drinks after work. There's something about a short heel that affords an outfit so much elegance in such a small space. Get yourself a pair here on DSW!

TEAL MY SUNSHINE
I wore this bohemian ensemble on my last day at the MAGIC tradeshow here in Vegas! Definitely wanted to go out with the bang, so the quilted turquoise jacket from online vintage mecca Tunnel Vision was an obvious choice. Couldn't walk two feet without a stranger noting its fine construction and vivid color scheme! Not every day you see a jacket as well-made as this one. Though its cropped and padded silhouette is traditionally 80s, I worked it into a free-spirited theme. Beautifully accentuated the turquoise stones in my headpiece!
FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:
Headchain - Funny People Co
Sunglasses - Cobrashop
Quilted jacket - Tunnel Vision
Crop top - Forever 21
Medallion necklace - Oscar De La Renta
Mint skirt - YES STYLE
Boots - Pink & Pepper
The chain around my hair comes from an incredible Etsy shop called Funny People Co. They specialize in all that handmade, bohemian good stuff: slave bracelets, turbans, headpieces and draping necklaces in brush gold and bronze. Check 'em out if you're in need (or better: in want) of some staple summer jewelry to compliment your hippie streak. My boots are from Pink & Pepper and, despite the heel, were PERFECT walking shoes for a busy day at the Convention Center. I actually got to meet the Pink & Pepper team at FN Platform, the shoe show at MAGIC. It was surreal -- their booth was stocked with boots, sandals, heels, and flats of every shape and texture conceivable (that's a LOT of shapes and textures if your imagination is as overactive as mine!) We went wild snappin' iPhone photos in what looked like a MASSIVE Carrie-Bradshaw-status closet, but with the spunk and sass of a teenage girl. It's always a blast meeting the brains behind a brand you're passionate about! I'll show you some pics of our MAGIC meetup as soon as they're posted. In the meantime, check out my boots on Bonton here!
