modulart

I love faux fur too much. I depend on it to redeem any outfit I wear that isn't quite luxe enough... but today I'm sure my framed Chanel purse takes full responsibility for the job. It's limited edition, it's classically quilted, it's surrounded by a mother effing plexiglas frame, and even features a plaque to note what year and collection it came from like any fine piece of art. Tack this baby to a wall at the Louvre... but only after I've worn it several times and later decide that the novelty of it being a purse-on-canvas (the back of this bag is literally made of canvas) has gone the way of abstract expressionism and readymades.

oh my goth

My new fave online shopping destination is a site called "Young Hungry Free" -- there is literally not one item in their inventory that I wouldn't wear. Okay maybe one but that's still a stretch, and if you browse through their new arrivals you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. That classically Singaporean mix of athletic, cyber, goth, and grunge is perfectly represented by their stock of mesh tanks, PVC minis, oversize jerseys, and holographic pleats. It's my fantasy, and simultaneously a reality, and LUCKY ME I'm wearing a three piece look courtesy of the brand! The Cross Yo Heart tee, Sick Sleek skirt, and True or Faux Leather Bomber are all available for your perusal... and lust. I know the feeling.

no thanks

Stripes and fur have me looking like an extremely posh referee, which is exactly what I am, so I'm not actually saying anything new by making that comparison. I am a ref. A vigilante. A self-proclaimed authority with unproclaimed bias. I live to judge other people. Your outfit. Your moral framework. Your Facebook profile picture. Not good at anything but having an opinion and legitimizing it through physical enforcement. Might I have the most annoying personality 'in the books?' Indeed. But at least I look good.

plaid to the bone

I've long time needed a pair of faux leather shorts like these to expedite the process of picking out an outfit. It's not like I value efficiency when it comes to fashion... we all know I prefer the impractical and consider functionality a detriment to creative potential. But when it comes down to me standing in the center of my closet, depressed stressed and pressed for time, I don't want to be thinking about what political statement I can make with my options. I just want a soft pair of shorts to slip into (and out of, if I just so happen to get lucky that day). And I want my brain to shut up for five seconds so I can live my life without feeling guilty for looking good according to 'normal people standards.' Fortunately, these shorts don't make me feel like I'm compromising my soul for comfort. Maybe it's because the brand is called "Cult of Individuality." I'm an individual no matter how wonderfully practical my outfit is.

privilege

Wearing all white AND a snapback with the word "BOY" emblazoned on it soooo naturally I had to name this look Privilege. Gotta say... the contrast really accentuates my tan. A few people have asked me what products I use on my skin for that summertime bronzed look. I recently started using a bottled mist by a brand called Karora -- it's a one-time application spray that immediately tans without streaking. And it's a more efficient, longer lasting, and sophisticated product than the gradual build Jergens lotions I normally use. "Bronzed Bombshell" is the name of this skin conditioner and it came with an exfoliating velour mitt. I DESPERATELY NEEDED THAT MITT. Orange palms and fingertips is sooooo not my lifestyle anymore.
